The other two trees were not being cared for by Tibbets husband, so they were transplanted and planted at the Mission Inn in 1903. In 1922 another one of the trees died and the last tress was then planted at the intersection of Magnolia and Arlington Ave, where a stone marker is placed with the tree in honor of Eliza Tibbets. The tree still stands today inside a protective fence.
The navel oranges grew rapidly throughout Riverside, by 1882 there were more than half a million citrus trees in California and half of which were in Riverside. In 1895, Riverside was established to be the wealthiest city due to the citrus trees, railroad cars, and innovative irrigation system. Due to the money that Riverside was bringing in this is when the popular Mission Inn was built, which was favorite by royalty and movie stars. East downtown is named “Eastside”, which grew out of the colonia, which is populated by Mexican immigrant workers in the Orange groves. Mexican communities are formed in the barrio of Casa Blanca (white house) during the twentieth century. Today, Riverside is mainly full of Oaxacan workers and Spanish speakers due to the mass orchards and produce fields.

The Festival of Trees also takes place during the week of Thanksgiving and is held at the Riverside Convention Center. This event raises money for the Riverside County Regional Medical Center children’s units. Typically, the Festival of Trees raises over $5 million and attracts 25,000 people per year. Christmas trees are judged and auctioned off for public viewing, entertainment, children’s craft area, a sweet shop, and a storytime with Santa all take place at The Festival of Trees. In March, the Riverside Airshow takes place at the Riverside Municipal Airport. This event typically attracts 70,000 people and has over 200 acres of aircrafts displayed.
